New Classes

Jill Schumacher is back with more Beginning Machine Quilting classes. Join us October 26th or December 12th and learn how to do machine quilting from an award-winning expert. She's an excellent teacher and we feel so lucky to have her visit our store.

Scenic Yosemite is a class you won't want to miss. Sherry Root will teach you so many wonderful techniques that you will use again. This one starts September 9th.

Carolyn will be teaching several Cotton Theory Classes. The first project will be Brindle Basket, a completely reversible placemat. The daytime class sill start September 22nd and the evening class sill start September 29th. The class fee will include a pre-cut kit. You'll be able to sit down in class and start to sew! Call us to be added to an interest list. We'll have all the details in just a few days.

Watch for news about our new Sew Creative Embroidery Club. We'll be meeting the first Saturday each month starting in October to learn about machine embroidery techniques and the new 5D software.

Michelle's Designs Fan Club

You're invited to join us for 3 days of fun with Michelle Griffith.

Michelle is a well-known author, pattern designer, embroidery design specialist, and sewing instructor. Her attention to detail is what makes Michelle's projects and collections something very special.

You'll find that simple and elegant are the hallmark of Michelle's creations. Her love of sewing and embroidery genuinely shine through her creations. With her meticulous attention to detail, her designs are truly inspiring as you can see in her unique embroidery designs. Creating projects from Michelle's patterns is truly a joyful experience!

Michelle is returning in November to kick off our Michelle's Designs Fan Club. On Friday, November 12th, Michelle will be entertaining us with a beautiful and inspiring trunk show. Then, on Saturday and Sunday, November 13th and 14th, we'll have a hands-on class working on two projects from Return to Romance.

The Trunk Show is free to students attending the two-day workshop!

Fan Club Quarterly Meeting

Our Michelle's Designs Fan Club will then meet quarterly to work on an heirloom sewing/embroidery project from one of Michelle's designs. We will have coordinated kits that include fabrics, laces, ribbons, and embellishments; hands-on demonstrations of sewing techniques; show and tell; drawings for CQ Coupons; and a great time for all.

Cotton Theory Quilting

I loved my week at the Cotton Theory Camp. There was lots of sewing, home cooked meals, and so much fun. How can you not have fun when you are sewing from morning to night with 12 other sewers?

We worked on a new project every day learning different ways to use this great quilt-as-you-go technique. I brought back a bag using texture magic, a reversible tabletopper with different blocks on each side and bobbin work, a reversible Courthouse Steps tablerunner with decorative scallop stitches, and a reversible tablerunner that features bobbin work embroidery.

Bobbin work is so exciting! Drop by the store to see what this is. I'm so excited about the possibilities of this type of sewing and embroidery.

New Viking Club

C1100Pro Sewing Machine

Pfaff has a new sewing machine that is perfect for quilters and sewers. We all had a chance to sit down and sew with it. There are lots of features including 9mm wide stitches and a dual feeding foot.

We'll be giving away a free Quilter's toolbox that has a large plexiglass sewing table and 4 of the most popular feet for quilting! The C1100 Pro has it's own web site with lots of information and a free downloadable pattern.

This new Smarter by Pfaff machine will be available the end of August.

Cutwork Needles

I was really excited about this, too. Terry was lucky enough to take this class and has the prettiest samples to share with you next week.

Pfaff and Viking have an Embroidery Cutwork Needle Kit that includes 4 cutwork needles, a needle insertion tool, and a CD with 5 free designs. There's a new design package available, too!

New Quilter's Hoop

Pfaff and Viking have a new 200mm x 200mm hoop which is about 8" square. Kathy and Carolyn got to use this hoop in their classes. Kathy made a pretty pieced placemat with decorative stitches and embroidery. Carolyn used this hoop to do embroidery and embroidery applique on a cute sweatshirt jacket for little girls. More designs are available in a new design pack. Quilter's will love being able to quilt their projects in the hoop!!!

Machine Service

David spent his time with other store owners and the technicians from Pfaff's home office in Tennessee. They discussed what they love best - working on the machines! David is a Pfaff-trained certified technician and is in the store most Saturdays to help you.
