Summer Days

Just imagine. . .

Butterflies dancing among the tall prairie grasses.

Blossoms waving in the warm afternoon breeze.

Carefree summer days.

Our Summer Days quilt blends pieced sampler blocks with easy applique in a setting that is quick to sew together!

Choose your favorite method of applique. Use hand techniques, fusible web with a machine button-hole stitch, or invisible machine applique with freezer paper and starch. The shapes have gentle curves making it perfect for a quick project or the beginning appliquer!

Our finishing kit is available in a large throw, twin, queen, and king sizes and includes the pattern, a yo-yo maker, and all the fabrics you need to construct the applique blocks, set-in triangles, borders, and binding. The Queen and King kits also include patterns and a fabric kit for additional blocks that will be needed.

The pattern includes a layout diagram with full-size templates for the applique, how-to's for making the dimensional flowers, and instructions for putting it all together.

A coordinating backing can also be purchased. Let us choose, or you can choose your favorite print from the Prairie Paisley collection.

You'll need to purchase the individual pieced block kits from the participating Patchwork Party stores.

Summer Days was designed by Carolyn McCray with lots of help from her amazing team at Cottage Quilts.

28mm Rotary Cutter

You'll want to use this small rotary cutter for cutting the corners of your block pieces.

First Aid Kit

Nobody is perfect, so we've put together a fat quarter kit of all nine prints used in the Patchwork Party sampler blocks!

Template Set A

Template Set C

These Plastic Template Sets can be used to make all twelve of the Sampler Blocks. A paper template pattern is included with each block kit, but I highly recommend you use these plastic templates.

What a great time saverand your block will come out perfect! I have to admit that piecing is not my favorite thing to do. I quit using templates when I stopped piecing by hand - a long time ago. But, I have to tell you that I LOVE THESE TEMPLATES!

They're so easy to use! Since the corners of the templates are engineered*, there is no guessing how to match up your pieces and no dog ears to trim. Your blocks will turn out to measure a perfect 12 1/2".

After testing the instructions for our first Patchwork Party block, I was so excited about these templates and I still am! Now, when I have a project to piece, I reach for a set of Marti Michell's Perfect Patchwork Templates.

*See the notched corners on the templates? This is what makes these templates so amazing!

Rotating Mat

There's no need to pick up your work and move it to make another cut. Simply cut, rotate the mat, and cut again. This self-healing rotating mat will save you lots of time and effort.

I tried out this mat when I made our test block and loved using it for rotary cutting the corners of my block pieces. Available in 12" and 17" sizes.
