Center Stage Block

Home Sweet Home

82" x 82"

There really is no place like home!

Our center block features a dimensional, woven basket filled with a lovely bouquet of roses and other pretty little flowers from the garden. Surrounding it are twelve sampler blocks made with the beautiful fabrics from the Home for the Holidays collection by Marcus Brothers.

Each long-stemmed rose is appliqued with three shades of red, from pale pink to a deep burgundy red. You can use your favorite method of applique: hand techniques, fusible web with a machine button-hole stitch, or invisible machine applique with freezer paper and starch.

Filling in the bouquet are dimensional flowers made with the new Yo-Yo Makers by Clover. The centers of the larger flowers use a contrasting fabric that has been stuffed for a more realistic look!

Our kit includes the pattern, Yo-Yo Makers (valued at $17.25), and all the fabrics you need to construct the center medallion, sashings, borders, and binding.

We used two templates from Set B to make our Sawtooth Border. These two templates can be found in a few of your block kits, but I strongly recommend you purchase the plastic Set B template set. I can't say enough about these templates. My borders came out the perfect length - no easing or stretching to make them fit was necessary!

You'll need to purchase the individual pieced block kits from the participating Patchwork Party stores.

A coordinating backing can also be purchased. Let us choose, or you can choose your favorite print from the Home for the Holidays collection.

Our pattern includes a full-size layout diagram for the applique, how-to's for making all of the dimensional flowers and woven basket, and instructions for putting it all together. Detailed instructions for the roses include numbered templates and a step-by-step guide.

Home Sweet Home was designed exclusively for Cottage Quilts by Carolyn McCray.

Set B and Set D Templates by Marti Michell

These Plastic Template Sets can be used to make all twelve of the Sampler Blocks. A paper template pattern is included with each block kit, but I highly recommend you use these plastic templates.

What a great timesaver and your block will come out perfect! I have to admit that piecing is not my favorite thing to do. I quit using templates when I stopped piecing by hand - a long time ago. But, I have to tell you that I LOVE THESE TEMPLATES!

They're so easy to use! Since the corners of the templates are engineered*, there is no guessing how to match up your pieces and no dog ears to trim. Your blocks will turn out to measure a perfect 12 1/2".

After testing the instructions for our first Patchwork Party block, I was so excited about these templates and I still am! Now, when I have a project to piece, I reach for a set of Marti Michell's Perfect Patchwork Templates.

*See the notched corners on the templates? This is what makes these templates so amazing!

Rotating Mat

There's no need to pick up your work and move it to make another cut. Simply cut, rotate the mat, and cut again. This 12", self-healing, rotating mat will save you lots of time and effort.

I tried out this mat when I made our test block. It came in very handy for rotary cutting the corners of my block pieces.

Yo-Yo Makers by Clover

All three Yo-Yo Makers are included in our kit.

You'll have fun making easy dimensional flowers with these new yo-yo makers by Clover!

28mm Rotary Cutter

You'll want to use this small rotary cutter for cutting the corners of your block pieces.

The soft, cushioned handle fits your hand making it comfortable to use.

For both right and left-handed use!
